Career Services Networking Reception
11:30 to 1:00 pm
8th Floor, Spartan Towers Building (Stadium)

The Career Services Network, in collaboration with OISS, is planning a reception for international students seeking employment in their "home" countries to meet up with employer representatives interested in hiring co-ops, interns and full-time employees in their home companies (ex. Student from China seeking employment in a company's operations in China). Companies planning to attend this reception will include Dow Chemical, Shell Oil, Alcoa, and Whirlpool Corporation.

Coffee, beverages, and light snack items will be served.

TO ATTEND THIS EVENT, PLEASE REGISTER BY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26.


OCTOBER 11
Spend the day in Chicago!!

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!!!

6:30am departure, returning to campus around 11:30pm
COST: $15 per person for transportation, all other costs are the responsibility of the student (food, entrance, fees, etc).

OISS, University Apartments, and VIPP are sponsoring a day in Chicago on Saturday, October 11th. Spend the day exploring and shopping. You can visit: Art Institute of Chicago, Field Museum, Shed Aquarium, Sears Tower, Navy Pier, shopping along the Magnificent Mile, and many other activities located in the heart of Chicago!

OPT Session
4 to 5 pm

F-1 students may apply for one year of work authorization called Optional Practical Training (OPT) for use after graduation. We recommend that applications are submitted at least 3 months before graduation. Come learn more about how you can apply for OPT.


OCTOBER 23
Employment and Immigration Session
International Center, Library
3:00 - 4:00 pm
Information for students and scholars about immigration regulations pertaining to working in the U.S. Topics will include working while in F-1 status, the latest information on the H-1B visa, and a quick look at ways to obtain U.S. permanent residency.


OCTOBER 23
Reception with the President
5 to 7 pm
Union Ballroom

MSU President Simon and important members of the community of East Lansing will host this special reception to honor all international students. Your presence on campus is important to the University and this is one place for MSU and community leaders to recognize you. Snacks and beverages will be served. This is your chance to meet the President. Bring a guest and don’t forget your cameras!
