WHAT IS FBIE MENTORING?

The FBIE-SIG offers a mentoring program to interested students who intend to enter the field of international education and professionals who are new to the field and wish to be connected to someone who has a little more experience.

Mentors are FBIE’s who have been in the field for some time and who wish to share their experience and extend support to new entrants into the field.

Mentors come from across all sections of NAFSA and mentees are encouraged to explore all facets of the field of international education from recruitment/admissions to study abroad to foreign student advising and community programming.

Many new entrants to the field just want to narrow their focus to international student advising and study abroad work and thus miss the exciting fields of ESL and recruitment and admissions as well as community programming. These fields offer many opportunities for entrance into the field and the FBIE SIG encourages newcomers to explore those areas as well.

Students, both foreign-born and American, are encouraged to fill out the FBIE MENTEE DATA COLLECTION FORM. Some one will contact you very soon!
