Tax Information

Filing federal income tax forms is the personal responsibility of each international student and scholar. Each year, staff members of the MSU College of Law Clinic program provide assistance through seminars and scheduled appointments.

Your tax return or an extension should be filed by 15 April, every year. Please be aware that each student/scholar is ultimately responsible for the accuracy of his/her income tax returns and any resulting penalties or interest.

If you want to do your taxes on your own, we found this web site from the University of Texas at Austin to be an outstanding tax resource. The site is for both international students and scholars. http://www.utexas.edu/international/taxes/index.html

PLEASE NOTE: Most of the information is general and can be used by anyone at any school, however please note that some of the contact numbers and walk in hours only refer to the University of Texas. If you have further questions you can't answer, please contact one of the services/workshops listed above.
